I don’t support it at all: Sachin Tendulkar on India playing five Tests at a single venue in Australia

Cricket Australia (CA) is one of the worst-affected boards due to the coronavirus pandemic. The board now has big expectations from BCCI and recently proposed a five-Test series against India, which would help them recover the financial losses. As per reports, CA has added a Test to scheduled series against India. The matches will be played at a single venue – behind the closed doors.

While the BCCI hasn’t commented on the matter, the idea of five-Test series hasn’t amused Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Tendulkar said that he doesn’t support the idea of playing five Tests at one venue.

“I don’t support it at all. On a lighter vein, I would say that by the end of the five Tests, Australia would not know if they were the home team or India. But seriously, having five matches at one venue is not something that I support,” he said.

Team India is scheduled to tour Australia for a four-match Test series in 2020-21. However, the pandemic could jeopardise the series. The Australian board has also found a solution to the problem as a report had suggested that CA might host the players at a $42 million new hotel.

The lavish hotel, which is likely to open in September, will serve as a quarantine centre for players for the two-week period. The venue will have all the training facilities and can also host a warm-up game.

The BCCI is expected to take a final call on the matter once the ongoing situation improves.
