With the mystery regarding the future of Tokyo Olympics (to be held next year) and Wimbledon 2020 (cancelled altogether) already known to all, the sports fanatics have their eyes glued on ICC’s decision regarding this year’s men’s T20 World Cup, to be held in Australia from October-November.

While many speculated the mega event might get cancelled or postponed to 2022, ICC has released a statement which is sure to raise the hope of fans worldwide.

ICC released a statement which read, “In response to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Local Organising Committee is monitoring the situation closely with relevant authorities and will continue to do so. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place from 18 October – 15 November 2020 in seven venues across Australia. We are planning for the event to go ahead as scheduled.”

However, if the situation worsens or doesn’t improve significantly, the showpiece event may have to be cancelled this year or be shifted to 2022. With the 2021 edition to be held in India, Australia might brag the hosting rights the year after in this case.
