Sri Lanka Cricket Changes Ticket Counters Locations After Hambantota Incident

Written by N Krishnamurthy

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has Changed the Ticket Counters Locations After Hambantota Incident on Wednesday during the second ODI.

During the match, a bizarre situation occurred, when spectators tried to enter into the stadium by one of the gate. SLC head of admin  Aruna De Silva, along with his juniors, was selling offline tickets at the ground through 4 counters. However, those counters proved not enough for the crowd, which had come in numbers to watch the match. It caused a big drama, as in the end, SLC had to open the gates in one section and allowed crowd to enter into the ground, that too without tickets. When situation went out of control, SLC was forced to call police to stop the crowd.

Now, as the third match of the series to be played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on March 1, the SLC has decided that on the match day, tickets will not be issued at the grounds, and  the fans can purchase tickets from the following locations:

  • Kandy District Cricket Association office at the Asgiriya Grounds

     –        Abitha Ground, Balagolla

     –          SLC Headquarters, Colombo

The gates at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium will be opened at 12.30 PM on the match day for the ticket holders to enter the ground, while the match will start at 02.30 PM.

Sri Lanka have already won the series 2-0.
