Ahead of test series, Trent Boult issues warning to Virat Kohli

Trent Boult, who missed the limited-overs series, is all set to return to action and he immediately issued a warning to Indian captain Virat Kohli. While Boult, who dismissed Kohli for cheap in ICC World Cup 2019 semi-final, hailed Kohli as an ‘exceptional’ batsman, he also opined that he could not wait to dismiss the Delhi batsman in the upcoming series.

“That’s personally why I play the game, to get guys like that (Kohli) out and test myself against them, so I can’t wait to get stuck in. But he’s an exceptional player. Everyone knows how great he is,” Boult said.

Boult, who is a vital cog in New Zealand’s set up across formats, was out of action for the last six weeks as he due to a fracture in his right-hand – which he sustained against Australia during the Boxing Day Test. Boult is expected to make an impact in the 1st Test – scheduled to be played at the Basin Reserve – which is said to be a seamer-friendly track.

Expressing his views on the track for the opening Test, Boult added, “I’m preparing for a solid wicket. It generally is very good here and goes the full distance (five days). I do enjoy playing here, the history that’s involved, and it’s going to be an exciting week building up. I can’t wait to get out there.”
