Young Indian speedster Navdeep Saini will be under the limelight when he takes to the field in India’s impending three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka starting from January 5 (Sunday) in Guwahati. Saini so far hasn’t played a single match with Jasprit Bumrah, but the youngster will have a go with one of the best pacers around in the series against Sri Lanka. Ahead of the series against the Islanders, Saini said that he is looking forward to bowling alongside Bumrah and is a great opportunity for him to learn from the best.

“I can now share my weaknesses and shortcomings with him. I can learn more by watching him bowl. It will be a good opportunity for me. I am really looking forward to it,” Saini told PTI in an exclusive interview on Friday.

“Our bowling attack is the strongest at the moment and that gives me that extra motivation. And that I have to work even harder to secure a regular spot,” he said on his chances of making into the T20 World Cup squad.

Saini while not thinking much about the forthcoming ICC World T20 scheduled to be played in Australia later this year said that every match and series from here is important for him while adding he wants to grow as a cricketer and learn as much as possible after having a fruitful 2019 where he made his Team India debut.

“From here on, every match and series is important for me. If I do well, I can also grow well as a cricketer and the team will also win. I don’t think too far ahead. Always I take one match at a time and think of giving my best every time. All my hard work paid off and I had a successful 2019. It’s about putting in that extra mile again so as to secure my place,” Saini talked about focusing on one match at a time.
