Ben Stokes, Stuart Broad involved in heated argument during 1st Test against South Africa

England players have not had an easy outing so far in the ongoing first Test against South Africa at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. After a dismal display with the bat in their first innings where they were bundled out for a paltry 181, England saw Joe Root and Jos Buttler miss some of the action on Day 3 due to illness. To add to their woes, vice-captain Ben Stokes and senior pacer Stuart Broad were involved in a heated argument on the field.

Stokes and Broad were spotted exchanging a few words after a South African wicket fell during Day 3. The two players were in a team huddle where something triggered the argument. England captain Joe Root was also a witness to the heated exchange but didn’t intervene. The video of the exchange between Broad and Stokes went viral on social media.

Former England captain Nasser Hussain, who was a part of the commentary panel, said he was pleased that a few words exchanged between Stokes and Broad. He said England are feeling the heat and the pacer probably said something in the team huddle which did not go down well with Stokes.

“England’s hot in the weather and not feeling well. I’m pleased that a few words were exchanged to be honest. (They’ve) got a problem with each other, Broad has said something in the huddle that Stokes is not amused with and England’s vice-captain picks him up on it. I don’t mind that at all,” said Hussain.
