The Cricket Foundation of Kalutara Vidyalaya, led by prominent and senior sports journalist and renowned cricket coach Ranjan Paranavithana, will be conducting a musical extravaganza, ‘Cric Bash’ next Sunday.

The musical programme, themed ‘from cricketers to cricket of Kalutara Vidyalaya’ will feature former and present national cricketers take the stage to showcase their singing abilities with the sole intention of gathering aid to support the Cricket Foundation Fund of Kalutara Vidyalaya.

Former cricketers Chaminda Vaas, Tillekaratne Dilshan, Upul Chandana, Akalanka Ganegama, Dhammika Prasad and Sachitra Senanayake will team up at a musical concert on December 29 to raise funds for Kalutara Vidyalaya, a school which has produced several Sri Lanka and First Class club cricketers over the years.

They will be joined by some of the present day players Niroshan Dickwella, Milinda Siriwardena, Dilshan Munaweera, Sandun Weerakkody, Lahiru Madushanka and Madawa Warnapura at the show to be held at the Kalutara Town Hall.

“Kalutara Vidyalaya was a force and we want to return to where we were and this concert will take us to where we want to be. It is an initial step to redevelop our cricket,” said Paranavithana who is also the president of the Kalutara Vidyalaya Cricket Foundation that is spearheading the project.

“We are glad to note that these cricketers who have retired are giving back something to the game and they are also talented to sing and we are hoping for a great show.”

“Kalutara Vidyalaya is known as a strong contributor to national cricket and a well performing side in the Schools Cricket Tournament. But in the recent years there has been a decline in both. The Cricket Foundation of the school is planning this as a project to help Kalutara Vidyalaya reach its former glory,” Paranavithana, a former skipper and a coach of the Kalutara school further said.
