2019 one of best years in Indian cricket, apart from that 30-minutes at World Cup: Virat Kohli

Indian skipper Virat Kohli showed nerves of steel again as the hosts pulled off a record chase to beat the West Indies by four wickets in the third and final One Day Internationals (ODI) at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday. Kohli turned out to be India’s go-to man with his outstanding 85-run knock which laid the foundation of a memorable chase against Keiron Pollard-led side in the series decider.

In the end, it was Shardul Thakur’s small cameo that helped India register their 10th successive series win over the Men from the Caribbean as the hosts won the 3rd ODI by four wickets. Speaking after the match, Kohli talked about India’s achievements in the calendar year as the hosts capped off 2019 with a 2-1 series win over the Windies.

“It’s been one of the best years in Indian cricket and apart from that 30-minutes at the World Cup, its been a beautiful year. We will keep chasing the World Cup, we have that vision in place. Having a bunch of fast bowlers is a brilliant thing to have in Indian cricket and them taking the attention away from the spinners is a huge statement,” Kohli said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

“We have it in us to win series overseas and our pacers deserve it fully. We are in the process of trying to find how people react to pressure. It’s just about identifying those people and that’s something we will keep striving for,” he added.
