SLC Stop Galle CC U23 Tournament Payment to take revenge

Written by N Krishnamurthy

The top officials of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) have reportedly stopped U23 tournament payment to Galle Cricket Club for holding an AGM without their approval and for not fulfilling their agendas, Cricket Age reliably learns.

The U23 tournament has already been suffering big time due to the vote bank policies of SLC. The tournament started in September, however One of the domestic club named Kandy Customs went to the court and brought an injunction After being not excluded to accommodate Nugegoda SC (Sumathipala-Shammi Silva supportive club).

Later court allowed SLC to conduct only weekend matches of the tournament, by relaxing the injunction.

However, now the SLC has stopped Galle CC tournament fees, even though the 90% payment has been released to all other participating clubs.

The reason behind SLC sinister move is to take revenge from the Galle CC, which opted to vote Jayantha Dharmadasa instead of Shammi Silva during the board election in February.

According to sources, few months ago Galle CC had suspended few of its members, who allegedly took money for the board election. Those members are considered loyal to Punchi Borella. So, on the orders of Punchi Borella, a top SLC official wrote a letter to Galle CC by instructing unlawful things regarding the Club’s AGM. However, as Galle CC ignored SLC top official’s letter and conducted it’s AGM in the lawful manner, SLC stopped U23 tournament payment!
