Ahead of the next hearing on September 19, Shammi Silva and Ravin Wickramaratne, two top most administrators of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC), have been asked to depose before the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) on Wednesday for the ongoing investigation of frauds and corruptions at the board.

The COPE commenced it’s investigation on September 3, where few SLC administrators and officials were questioned over various fraudulent transactions, bank accounts.

As on September 3rd, entire cricket crazy nation saw the real face of the SLC as it was recorded and open for the media, now it’s time for president Shammi Silva and vice president Ravin Wickramaratne to face the music. Apart from them, SLC assistant treasurer Lalith Rambukwella and Head of Administration Aruna De Silva have also been asked to come.

“All these were summoned on September 3 itself. However, as they opted to absent, COPE has asked them to come today and provide a reason for their non participation that day” a senior SLC administrator told Cricket Age.

After first part of investigation on September 3, the COPE ordered SLC to suspend it’s so called initiative named Cricket Aid, which was a brainchild of Thilanga Sumathipala, former president and current Guardian of Shammi Silva and his colleagues.

Interestingly, Shammi Silva was the treasurer in Sumathipala’s administration, when Cricket Aid and other fraudulent practices took place, especially the 25 million donation to a temple in Kandy for a so called Cricket university! The current administration also, led by Shammi Silva this time with the blessings of Sumathipala, has been marred with all sort of controversies and MI’s management – mainly the ExCo members, stakeholder joyrides for World Cup in UK and ongoing drama over national team head coach Chandika Hathurasingha sacking!
