SLC underlines post world cup strategy

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC), on Monday, underlined post world cup strategy under the supervision of immediate past President Thilanga Sumathipala, Cricket Age reliably learns.

Sri Lanka, after being knocked out of the ongoing World Cup in England and Wales, to play last group stage match against tournament favourite India on July 6.

As the SLC President Shammi Silva and vice president Ravin Wickramaratne are in overseas, Sumathipala chaired the meeting at his residence office in Punchi Borella.

“The media team was called to define areas as two new people have joined the media division” a top SLC official told Cricket Age.

Focus of the meeting was on the positive outcomes of Sri Lanka’s World Cup campaign.

“Even though Sri Lanka could not qualify for the semifinals, unfortunately due to two washed out games against Pakistan and Bangladesh, our team played good cricket and beat mighty England. Particularly, the captaincy of Dimuth Karunaratne and emergence of young Avishka Fernando were some bright signs for Sri Lanka cricket” he added further.

Accordingly, the media division has been instructed to publish positive news, articles about Sri Lanka’s World Cup campaign.
