Two SLC officials on one month long UK visit to purchase Bowling Machines

Written by N Krishnamurthy

Two officials of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) are currently on one month long visit to UK for the board process to purchase 20 bowling machines, Cricket Age reliably learns.

Under the provincial and district development project, the SLC ExCo has approved to purchase 20 nos. bowling machines to be distributed among clubs, district centres and schools.

Accordingly, SLC procurement manager Senaka Angulugaha and national development centre head Kamal Dharmasiri are currently in UK since June 1 and will stay there until July 4.

Cricket Age has the access of SLC management committee document that reads:

“TEC recommended to purchase 20 nos. Bowling machines and other equipments from the manufacturer M/S BOLA manufacturing Ltd. Amounting to GBP 48,018.60 and pay port clearing charges and government taxes in LKR.

The manufacturer of BOLA Machine Co. Ltd., UK has invited manager procurement and head of national development to visit their factory to see their new products before the shipping of the machines (1st June to 4th July 2019) and also stated that they will be borne necessary expenses for the visit.

Hence, request grant approval to manager procurement and head of NDC to visit BOLA manufacturer Co. Ltd. UK from June 1 to July 4 and necessary allowances for four days.”

The surprising fact is that both SLC officials were granted more than one month stay in UK for manufacturing company visit.

Moreover, when a local media person called SLC CEO Ashley De Silva and asked him about these two officials UK visit, he could not reply anything on the matter, that indicates that (as usually) he was fully unaware about this!
