Income tax officials conduct searches at SLC

More than one dozen income tax officials invaded at Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) headquarter at 35 Maitland place yesterday and searched and asked for certain tax sheets, Cricket Age reliably learns.

The officials reportedly asked for the tax sheets from 2016 to 2018 and searched the related documents for nearly two hours.

“16 income tax officials came to the board and our administration provided all the files, tax sheets and documents, whatever they asked for” a top SLC official told Cricket Age.

When inquired further, it learnt that the move was politically motivated, and was related to much talked about government forensic audit.

“Normal three to four official’s comes for these sort of searching. However, the sudden arrival of more than one dozen officials indicates that it was politically motivated” the SLC official added further.
