World Cup 2019: ICC likely to provide additional security during Sri Lanka London Practice Camp

In the aftermath of deadly serial bomb blasts on Easter Sunday that killed hundreds of innocent people’s in Sri Lanka, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is considering to provide additional security to island’s national team during its London practice camp.

In addition, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has also decided to take additional measures to strengthen the security of the Team.

The Sri Lanka team is scheduled to leave for UK on May 7 and from May 7-15 will conduct a practice camp at a school in Watford for one week.

Last week, SLC was forced to cancel the three days army camp for the team because of the prevailing situation in the country.

The deadly serial bomb blasts not only cost innocent lives, but also forced government to impose the emergency. Due to the prevailing situation, the Sri Lanka team is currently practicing amidst high level security.

After one week long training Camp in London, the team will travel to Scotland to play two ODIs. Sri Lanka’s opening World Cup match is against New Zealand on June 1, 2019.
