Is Auditor General deliberately delaying SLC Forensic Audit Report?

Country’s Auditor General H.M. Gamini Wijesinghe is reportedly holding back the forensic audit report of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC), even though it has been completed long time ago, Cricket Age reliably learns.

On January 28, Sports Minister Harin Fernando had instructed to his secretary and then SLC Competent Authority Chulananda Perera to carry on a forensic audit from 1st January 2016 to 31st December 2018 and submit the final report within two weeks.

However, even after two months, the auditor general is yet to release the audit report.

According to sources, Gamini Wijesinghe is retiring at the end of this month, so is raluctant and scared to release the audit report.

“Yes, honorable auditor General is retiring on April 25th and it is very unlikely that the audit report to be released anytime soon” an insider at Auditor General department told Cricket Age.

Moreover, Cricket Age learns that the main idea from is to holding back the audit report as long as possible. In this scenario, it is very unlikely that before the World Cup, auditor general department will release the report.
