Virat Kohli hopeful of turning things around for RCB despite four straight defeats

Virat Kohli said he was confident of turning things around after Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered their 4th straight defeat in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2019. RCB have recorded their worst start to a season this year as they are still hunting for their first win in the tournament after suffering a crushing 7-wicket defeat against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday.

The likes of AB de Villiers (13) and Shimron Hetmyer (1) also failed to deliver. Marcus Stoinis (31) made a useful contribution and added 53 runs for the 4th wicket with Parthiv. In reply, Rajasthan wrapped-up the chase with a ball to spare to pick first two points this season. Shreyas Gopal was the star of the victory for RR with a devastating spell of 3/12 in his 4 overs.

Post the loss, Kohli admitted that his team committed a lot of mistakes on the field as RCB players dropped a lot of catches towards the end of Rajasthan’s innings. He also said that the tournament is still a long one and they can turn things around.

“We made a lot of mistakes in the match (dropped catches). In a tournament like IPL when the team hasn’t got off to a great start then bodies in the outfield can be a bit stiff. There can be a bit of nervousness. In four games, we would have wanted one or maybe two games to go our way. We have 10 games to go, hopefully, we can turn things around. We played well against Mumbai and in this game,” said Kohli.

Gopal picked up the important wickets of Kohli, ABD and Hetmyer in the game as he almost single-handedly turned the match in his side’s favour.
