You destroyed my day, my hundred: Sanju Samson tells David Warner

Written by Rohit Pawar

Sanju Samson’s 55-ball 102 seemed to have got Rajasthan Royals to their first win of the season but the total turned out to be a little less in the end as SRH overhauled the target with an over to spare. The Australian hard-hitter David Warner slammed a 37-ball 69 while Jonny Bairstow supported him well with an innings of 45 runs from 28 balls as the duo added 110 runs for the first wicket. Speaking to Warner after the game, Samson admitted that his side probably required about 250 runs to win the game, considering the way he was batting.

“You destroyed my day. My 100 was not enough because of the way you batted. The way you started the innings we lost the game in the powerplay. We needed some 250 on the board with someone like you in the opposition. It was special,” Samson told Warner.

The RR batsman also asked Warner about his approach in the run chase and the SRH superstar credited his innings to the good start early in the innings.

“As a batsman, you try and identify if the ball is going to swing or not first. As a batsman, if you get one to start it’s good. A couple of dots can change the momentum,” the Aussie explained. “Start as well as you can in the first six overs, was what we thought. Chasing big totals, it can go both ways. We got a good start and kept our adrenaline going. When the adrenaline is going you’re in the mood.”
