SLC Secretly Plans to Establish Cricket Museum

Written by Rohit Pawar

Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) is secretly planning to establish a cricket museum in order to create new jobs for the people’s of former president Thilanga Sumathipala, Cricket Age reliably learns.

According to sources, with the approval of SLC CEO Ashley De Silva, SLC has finalized to establish the museum at the closed Asian Cricket Council (ACC) building.

Few years ago, Sumathipala opened the ACC headquarter in Colombo with big promises. However, it turned out a white elephant, as the office could never be functioned properly.

Just for the formality, Sumathipala put one of his private security guard at ACC building as peon. Later, Sumathipala, in order to hide his failure, blamed government for not giving tax exemption.

Now, as ACC office has moved to Dubai, SLC has planned to establish Cricket museum in the building.

“This is another ploy by Sumathipala to put his people’s in and on his behalf Ashley De Silva has approved it” a SLC insider told Cricket Age.

Another interesting fact is that neither Sports Minister Harin Fernando nor his secretary and SLC competent authority Chulananda Perera knows anything about this project. According to sources, both the media managers of SLC Prasanna Rodrigo and Dinesh Ratnasigham are looking after the project and idea is to finish it before the next AGM on February 21. Both the media managers are considered loyal to Sumathipala.
