Ashley De Silva, the controversial CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has turned smart as he surprisingly greeted Thilanga Sumathipala and his arch rivals alike on New Year.
It was surprising from Ashley, as majority of Sri Lanka Cricket former administrators have always complained that the SLC CEO is completely loyal to Punchi Borella and worship only Sumathipala.
However, on new year, Ashley greeted not only Sumathipala, but his rivals and some of the well respected former interim committee heads as well.
According to sources, after the arrival of New Sports Minister Harin Fernando, Ashley’s stature has been weakened significantly. Even though Ashley’s people’s claims that New Sports Minister belongs to St. Joseph College, the important fact is that Harin comes from UNP.
Ashley De Silva gets orders and instructions from Punchi Borella, and this is an open fact. so in order to survive, now he trying to make a good rapport with everyone irrespective of the camps.
Also, even though it was just a new year wish from Ashley, but it highlights the changing scenario of SLC. As Sumathipala is done and dusted from the cricket, his loyals are looking towards other Sri Lanka stalwarts and camps for their survival.
