Rishabh Pant sledges Tim Paine, calls him temporary captain

Written by Vishwas Gupta

On Friday, during the 3rd day of the Boxing Day Test match between India and Australia, Tim Paine sledged Rishabh Pant while he was batting as the Aussie captain pinched the youngster by reminding him that he has been dropped from the ODI team. While Rishabh did not react to Paine’s pinch at the time, he gave a mouthful to him in the 4th innings of the game by calling him a ‘temporary skipper’.

It was the 40th over when Paine was yet to open his account with the bat. Rishabh wasted no time and started the banter with Mayank Agarwal straightaway.

“You got a special guest today…come on manki (Mayank Agarwal). Have you heard a word temporary captain? Hai mank (Mayank)? Have you heard the word temporary captain ever? You don’t need anything to get him out. He loves to talk, that’s the only thing he can do,” Rishabh said while standing behind the wickets. Here is the video –

The series between India and Australia was expected to be sledge free, especially after a cultural change in Australia but Australian team started to sledge Indian players right from Day 1 of the series with Rishabh being the first player to be sledged. He hit back at the Australians right in the first Test.
