Perth Test: Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja fight with each other on the field

On the fourth day of the recently-concluded second Test against Australia in Perth, two senior players from the visiting team – Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja were seen having a heated discussion on the field.

The official broadcasters of the ongoing four-Test series Down Under did not miss the opportunity to play the clip of the animated exchanges during the fifth and final day’s play at the Perth Stadium.

There is no clear explanation as to what led to the rift between Ishant and Jadeja but it seems the former was not happy with the latter’s fielding position. Notably, Jadeja, who was benched after being named in the 13-man squad, was on the field as a substitute fielder.

Ishant and Jadeja can be seen pointing fingers at each other during a brief break in between overs. As the discussion gets heated up, the two come face-to-face along the wicket at the venue before being separated by teammates Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav.

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting, while commentating for Channel 7, pointed out that things got a bit heated up between Ishant and Jadeja.

“Who knows what they’re talking about, it does seem very animated, there’s lots of finger pointing. Things have obviously got a little bit heated between these two,” Ponting said.

Meanwhile, Australia knocked over the last five Indian batsmen for a mere 28 runs to win the second Test level the four-match series 1-1 on Tuesday.
