Sanjay Manjrekar asks team management to drop Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul

India may have won the 3rd T20I against Australia to level the 3-match series but some of the deficiencies have begun to show in the batting department. Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has hit out Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul for their showing in the T20I series. Manjrekar suggested that India are playing an allrounder like Krunal Pandya to hide the inconsistencies shown with the bat by Pant and Rahul.

“Rahul and Pant’s inconsistency with the bat inducing India (perhaps) to play Krunal Pandya- A bowler who bats. India would be a stronger team if Chahal plays & so does Krunal in place of a batsmen. What do you guys think?’ a Tweet from Manjrekar read.

Both Rahul and Pant have had a series to forget. Rahul has not been able to make most his chances so far. He averages a meagre 13.50 while his strike rate is also under 100. Meanwhile, Pant also disappointed after he departed for a golden duck in the must-win tie at Sydney. Pant played a pull shot off Andrew Tye, the ball did not have the pace he was looking to work with and only managed to top-edge it to Alex Carey who took the catch. He was out for 20 off 15 balls in the 1st T20I at Brisbane which India lost by four runs.
