Suranga Lakmal To Captain Sri Lanka In Kandy Test Against England

Written by N Krishnamurthy

Fast bowler Suranga Lakmal has been appointed as Sri Lanka team captain for the second test against England at Pallekele, after regular captain Dinesh Chandimal was ruled out injury. Chandimal, who suffered a groin strain during the first day of the first test at Galle, has been ruled out for two weeks.

Young uncapped Charith Asalanka has been drafted into the team as Chandimal’s replacement.

Lakmal has had a great success as a captain, as Sri Lanka have won three tests in a row under his inspirational leadership. The second test begins on November 14.
