Is SLC Telling Lie In Excise Department Raid Fiasco?

Written by N Krishnamurthy

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) are unethically trying to put the blame of ‘excise department raid fiasco’ on the hospitality partner classic destination even though it is a fault of the board itself, Cricket Age reliably learns.

On Tuesday, the Colombo excise department officials raided an air-conditioned private spectator box and busted a major racket of selling foreign liquor to English Cricket fans, during the fifth and final ODI at R. Premadasa.

The excise department officials secretly filmed SLC wrongdoings and have already produced the evidence in the magistrate court.

Yesterday, SLC tried to distance itself from the controversy by putting all the blame on hospitality partner for the England series – classic destination pvt. ltd.

“As the firm has failed to act within the law, as found following a raid by the Department of Exercise during the 5th ODI between Sri Lanka and England at the RPICS, and bringing disrepute to Sri Lanka Cricket, SLC decided to immediately terminate Classic Destination from delivering further hospitality services during the England tour” the SLC statement reads.

However, Cricket Age learns that it is the SLC, who brought disrepute to the game of the cricket.

“SLC is telling a complete lie. All the F and B were arranged and paid by the SLC. classic destination purchased the tickets and F and B from the SLC as a package” a top official at Classic destination told Cricket Age.

Cricket Age also has the access of SLC documents that proves that the classic destination purchased the tickets and F and B as a package.

“Classic destination Pvt. Ltd. has forwarded a proposal to carry out hospitality corporate boxes reservation service for the bellow mentioned tournaments for a royalty fee of Rs. 1M + taxes :

Nidahas Trohy
England tour of Sri Lanka – ODIs and T20I

In line wuth same, MC approval is sought for :

To award the services of ticket sales at corporate boxes which included hospitality for the above mentioned tournaments” the SLC MC document reads.
