India vs West Indies, 1st Test: KL Rahul Incurs Duck

Written by Rohit Pawar

KL Rahul and his problem with LBW dismissals is something that the batsman himself and the coaches haven’t been able to resolve. Paired alongside the debutant Prithvi Shaw in the Indian team for the 1st Test against West Indies, Rahul was dismissed for a duck on the final delivery of the first over by Shannon Gabriel.

In a decision which looked clear, what infuriated the Twitterati was the fact that the batsman went on to review the umpire’s call too, only to be told the second time that he was out.

The match saw Rahul and Shaw come out to open the innings for India after skipper Virat Kohli decided to bat first after winning the toss. Rahul, who was selected over the likes of Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan for the opening slot, is backed by the skipper to establish himself as the long-term solution to India’s opening dilemma in Tests alongside Shaw.
