SLC Serves Beer To Media During Galle Test

Written by N Krishnamurthy

It seems like Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has purposefully chasing controversies. Team’s Coach, Captain and Manager already missed the ongoing Galle Test, after they were suspended by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Now, in a latest controversy, Beer was served during the ongoing Galle test, that too inside the media enclosure despite efforts to discourage promoting beer or any form of liquor.

In past, SLC has always stated that they are against serving any form of liquor, during the home matches as it’s not goes well with the country’s culture.

However, during the ongoing match, beers were available free of cost for the media during the lunch break inside the media enclosure.

Cricket Age learns that SLC controversial CEO Ashley De had given instructions to Board Officials to serve beers to media to keep them happy.

It is noteworthy that SLC is currently under the supervision of Sports Ministry, after the departure of Thilanga Sumathipala led administration on May 31st. Sports Minister appointed Competent Authority Kamal Padmasiri is running the show at SLC, however in just within two Months, he has turned effectively incompetent!

During the Nidahas Trophy earlier this year also same kind of incident happened, when then SLC Treasurer Shammi Silva Served Beers inside corporate Boxes.
