Diego Maradona is the Greatest Ever, Opines Sourav Ganguly

Written by N Krishnamurthy

Argentina and Portugal were knocked out of the FIFA World Cup 2018 on Saturday, losing their respective Round of 16 matches at the hands of France and Uruguay respectively. These two results mean this might be the last time Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo may feature at the World Cup, adding fuel to the fire in their ‘Greatest of All Time’ debate. However, former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly has picked a different player altogether as the greatest ever.

Sharing a video of his 10 best goals and tricks, Ganguly proclaimed Argentine legend Diego Maradona as the greatest, stating that the 57-year-old came from a different planet altogether.

He wrote in his tweet, “will all due respect to all every world confirms me that this genius came from a different planet ..master at work..greatest” (sic).

Ganguly also tweeted about the Uruguay-Portugal match, where he praised the quality of Luis Suarez’s assist to Edinson Cavani for the first goal.

He wrote: “This World Cup football quality has been remarkable …what a ball from suarez..want to be ronaldos nite….” (sic).
