Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC), After their team returned from the West Indies drawn the three test match series 1-1, is celebrating the occasion big time. For a press conference today morning, SLC has invited Country’s Sports Minister as chief guest.
Despite a memorable win in the third test, West Indies tour turned out a all time disaster for Sri Lanka cricket, as team’s Captain Dinesh Chandimal, Coach Chandika Hathurusingha and manager Asanka Gurusinha found guilty of breach of the spirit of the game. Chandimal has also been declared guilty of ball tempering and ICC will Announce the punishment on July 10, For all three.
However, SLC COO Jerome Jayarathne feels it is the new positive beginning for Sri Lanka cricket, as he has mentioned in his invitation letter to Sports Minister Faizer Mustapha.
“We at SLC believes that a new positive era of Sri Lanka Cricket is emerging and your presence at this event will augur well for the team” Jerome has written in his invitation letter.
It is noteworthy that SLC is without a President now, after Sumathipala Led administration departed due to failing hold election on time. In recent months, SLC has been trapped in many controversies like ball tampering, match fixing. Former great players and administrators have openly criticised SLC and blamed for destroying the game in the Island.
However, unmoved by all these, Jerome Jayarathne and SLC, together with Sports Minister, has decided to celebrate the drawn Series against West Indies!
