World Cup winning captain Arjuna Ranatunga has expressed his gratitude to his fellow former cricketers for rejecting Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) and country’s Sports Minister Faizer Mustapha invitation to join the board as consultants.
“Minister Arjuna Ranatunga expressed his gratitude to Roshan Mahanama, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardena, Mutthaia Muralitharan and Aravinda d Siva for taking a wise decision and not to walking in to trap of gamblers by rejecting Sports Ministers invitation” Noted BBC Journalist Aazam Ameen wrote on his twitter handle.
Last week, SLC CEO Ashley De Silva comically issued an invitation in public forum to invite Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Aravinda De Silva, Muttiah Muralitharan as consultants on honorary basis, that too without any prior confirmation from them.
However, all the players not only refused the invitation, they thoroughly exposed the intentions of SLC by stating that they have lost their trust in the system!
