Ashley De Silva, The controversial and notorious CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has become a ‘Punishing Administrator’ For board employees after the departure of Thilanga Sumathipala last month, Cricket Age reliably learns. Even after SLC employees hasn’t received a single salary increment since last two years, Now Ashley has stopped ‘Flexi Hours’ Facility for all those employees, except for his secretaries.
According to sources, as per the contract of employees, the working hours are between 8.30 AM to 5.30 PM.
However, during Sumathipala time, he allowed ‘Flexi Hours’ for those, who used to work late on condition of 9 hours working per day.
But after Sumathipala exit, Ashley has Enforced normal time again, and anyone is not allowed to stay after 6 PM without an approval from Head of Department.
He has implemented This ‘forced’ decision on everyone, except for his own secretaries.
“Whatever Wrongdoings took place in last two years, but during Mr. Sumathipala time, at least, the employees were treated in good manner. But now Mr. Ashley has been enforcing weird decisions on the employees” a top official of SLC told Cricket Age in term of animonity.
Not only this, Ashley has taken a harsh decision about Employees ‘Extra hours’ Allowances as well. According to sources, the Exco approval has been received for confidential secretaries for a special allowance of 1 thousand rupees per day when they work till 7 PM. However, Now Ashley has ordered to not stay after 6 PM, unless there is very urgent work.
So except for Ashley, SLC COO Jerome Jayarathne, the other heads have told their confidential secretaries that it is not necessary to stay in office till 7 PM and claim that.
“No work load evaluation, so now every employee depends on his head of department to get overtime approved. It’s like, we have stranded here. All though, for Ashley secretaries, there are no bounds like this” he added further.
The notorious working style of Ashley has been well documented. A former lady Employee has already lodged a case against him in the court. Few other Lady employees – A marketing head and a legal officer named M.S.N.K Fernando have left their job at SLC in mysterious circumstances.
Just last week, Ashley made country’s Sports Minister Faizer Mustapha a laughing stock in world Cricket, as he advised Minister to invite former players as consultants. Every single former player has declined the invitation with harsh statements and completely exposed Ashley’s intentions! Insiders of Sports Ministry have told Cricket Age that Mustapha is very upset with Ashley incompetence and now will never ever trust on his advice!
