Main Candidates Opposes Sumathipala Nomination

In the aftermath of The submissions of the nominations for Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) election, to be held on May 31st, The main candidates have opposed incumbent President Thilanga Sumathipala, Cricket Age reliably learns. Sports Minister is also closely monitoring the situation, after SLC appointed the election committee, just before submitting nominations.

After Various Kind of Drama’s and uncertainty in last one month, SLC has finally scheduled Election for May 31.

As Sumathipala led administration will try to secure another term, Former president Jayantha Dharmadasa and Former Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga have come forward to contest.

Now, According to sources, The main candidates have opposed Sumathipala, and On Tuesday, Submitted their objection to the Newly Appointed Election Committee with thousands of supporting documents.

Later, they Went to Sports ministry and submitted the documents there as well.

According to sources, Sumathipala Led SLC administration played it smartly, as the Secretary Roshen Biyanwila sent the Mail asking for the objections from the clubs, only on Saturday Afternoon, barely Two hours before the EGM.

Moreover, SLC reduced the time period for submitting objections by 3 PM on Tuesday. However, The main candidates were already prepared and submitted their objection well before the time.
