SLC Allows ‘Match Fixing Accused’ Ravin Wickramaratne At EGM

Written by Rohit Pawar

In a shameful act, Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) Interim Committee, headed by Thilanga Sumathipala, Allowed Ravin Wickramaratne To share the stage with other top officials in the Extraordinary General Meeting held at Its headquarter on Saturday.

Recently, Faizer Mustapha, Sri Lanka’s Sports Minister, had issued a letter to SLC, asking about the suspension of Ravin.

However, As the SLC election are approaching, it’s seems Sumathipala led administration has decided to not to take any kind of action against Ravin Wickramaratne, even after the directives from the Sports Minister. Few days ago, he also attended a meeting, where Faizer Mustapha met SLC ExCo members.

“Ravin represents a club, so no issue, even he came at EGM. the thing is he shared stage with Sumathipala, which seems unethical, given the fact that Sports Ministry has declared him guilty” a former SLC Administrator told Cricket Age.

Ravin Wickramaratne’s, the notorious Assistant Secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC), Wrongdoings and Corruption has been well documented, as he has constantly been milking Millions of profit from almost every single deal of SLC, be it Television rights deals, Sponsorship Deals or Board’s Event’s deals. There is a popular belief in Sri Lanka cricket circuit that even though Thilanga Sumathipala is the President of the SLC, it’s Ravin Wickramaratne, who is making all the profits.

Most embarrassingly, he has been declared as the main culprit of the Panadura-Kalutara match fixing scandal by the Sports Ministry itself.
