Chris Gayle Hits The Ball Out Of The Stadium Against Mumbai Indians

Written by Abhishek Patil

The greatest batsman in T20 cricket history Chris Henry Gayle has been in sublime form in the ongoing edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). He his the top run scorer for his team Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and add another half-century to his Indian Premier League (IPL) career, this time against Mumbai Indians on yesterday. The self-proclaimed ‘Universe Boss’ scored 50 runs from 40 deliveries. To everyone’s surprise, Gayle hit only 2 sixes in his innings compared to 6 fours.

However, the two sixes he struck had raw power. His first six came in the last over of the powerplay off Mitchell McClenaghan. The Kiwi pacer bowled a short delivery to Gayle who backed into the crease and struck it over square leg boundary for a maximum. The ball ended up on the roof of Holker stadium and the Umpires had to ask for a new ball to get the match to resume.

Gayle has been in fine form scoring his third half-century of the season and fourth fifty-plus score. The Caribbean opener got out trying to hit the short ball from Ben Cutting over the boundary, but the ball ended up in safe hands of Suryakumar Yadav.
