Mohan De Silva Tipped To Contest SLC President Election

In a strategic move, Current Vice President Of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) Interim Committee Mohan De Silva is likely to contest for the presidential post in the Upcoming Board Election, Cricket Age reliably learns.

After the previous election date May 19 being postponed due to technical error, the election has been rescheduled for May 31.

According to sources, Mohan De Silva name has been brought forward, as The Current President Thilanga Sumathipala doesn’t want to take risk of being challenged in the court, regarding his connection with Betting Industry.

“There is a fear within Sumathipala Camp that even if they win the election, there might be attempts from his opposition camp to challenge his presidential post in court. That’s why they are seriously considering to bring forward Mohan De Silva” An Insider of SLC told Cricket Age in the term of animosity.

There have been allegations against Sumathipala that he is actively involved in betting, even though he has always denied it.

Mohan De Silva, A good person in otherwise notorious SLC setup, has always been regarded as the closest associate of Sumathipala. In 2004, when Sumathipala had to withdrawn to contest after being held in police custody, Mohan De Silva Served SLC as President.

Cricket Age also learns that some of the top officials of Sumathipala team won’t be considered for the next election. The notorious and controversial assistant secretary of SLC Ravin Wickramaratne is the one among those.
