SLC Election Postponed After Sports Minister Objection

The much awaited Election of Sri Lanka cricket Board (SLC) has been postponed after the new Sports Minister Faizer Mustapha took the objection, Cricket Age reliably learns.

The Thilanga Sumathipala led SLC had announced the date of election on May 19. Today is The last date for submission the nominations for the election.

However the newly appointed Sports Minister thought the calling for An AGM was not according to SLC constitution.

“An election committee needs to be appointed by the membership. currently the Committee was appointed by ExCo with permission from Ministry, but new minister says to appoint at the AGM and after that have the elsections” A top official of Sports Ministry told Cricket Age on term of animosity.

Accordingly, the AGM will be held at an appropriate date by the SLC.
