When Virender Sehwag thought Rahul Dravid was Boring

Written by Vipin Darwade

Legendary Virender has revealed that during his playing days once he thought that watching Rahul Dravid bats was boring. Sehwag was speaking during the launch of Boria Majumdar’s book “Eleven Gods and A Billion Indians” at the Fannatic Sports Museum on Friday.

“I would do that in the dressing room and once said it is very boring when (Rahul) Dravid bats, because he never hits fours. It came naturally to me. And because of me, the TV channel got high TRPs and now they can’t afford me. Think of this: Rs 22,000 crore being spent on Indian cricket and no good commentator in Hindi,” he said.

Sehwag further added that when he was asked to open the batting in the one-dayers, he was surprised but then skipper Ganguly and coach John Wright pushed him to do that.

“I asked them Sachin opened the batting always and Sourav also started as an opener. So why me? Let me bat in the middle order. But Sourav and John would say then you have to sit out as that is the only place for you in the team.”
