Sumathipala To Contest SLC Presidential Election Again

Thilanga Sumathipala has decided to contest the Sri Lanka Cricket board (SLC) presidential election again. The announcement will be made through a press conference on today, at 10.30 AM Morning, Cricket Age reliably learns.

The AGM is scheduled for May 19, as Sumathipala led administration has completed its Two Years in the office.

“During his current administration, the SLC has achieved some big things, like – hiring of Chandika Hathurusingha as national Coach, establishing good rapport with BCCI that resulted plethora of Sri Lanka – India Series in last two years. Also we made Nidahas trophy as the most profitable Cricket tournament in Sri Lanka cricket history. And there is, LPL, a dream t20 league of SLC, to be launched from August this year. With all these, Mr. Sumathipala has decided to contest again for the top post” a top SLC official told Cricket Age.

According to sources, the acceptance date of nominations is April 27 and till date, no one from other camps have submitted the nominations.

Cricket Age has also learned that some of the top officials of Sumathipala team won’t be considered for the next election. The notorious and controversial assistant secretary of SLC Ravin Wickramaratne is the one among those. He was the main culprit of the Panadura-Kalutara  Match fixing scandal, and has completely been sidelined by Sumathipala in recent months.
