When MSK Prasad led selection committee announced the squad for Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka on Sunday, everyone was expecting Mayank Agrawal’s name there, especially when All the top stars of team India like captain Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya were rested. However, selectors once again ignored the 27 year old ‘run machine’ of Karnataka, even after he shattered almost all the records in domestic season.

He has been in sensational form since the beginning of the Ranji Trophy. He has been scoring centuries for fun off late and has carried the Karnataka side on his own shoulders. Across all formats, he has scored a combined tally of 2,051 runs this season.

He scored a staggering 1160 runs in 13 innings in the Ranji Trophy at an average of 104.45 with two half-centuries and five centuries to his name. He carried on his brilliant run of form into the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well, as he has scored 633 runs in seven innings so far at an average of 90 with three hundreds.

However, it seems that MSK Prasad and Co. Is Still not impressed with his statistics! With a second string team for Nidahas trophy, inclusion of Mayank Agrawal could have been the most logical thing, but selectors missed a golden chance!
