Lasith Malinga’s Participation in Nidahas Trophy Depends on Fitness

Written by Rohit Pawar

Discarded fast bowler Lasith Malinga might get a chance in the upcoming Nidahas Trophy, however his selection depends on his fitness, Cricket Age reliably learns.

Malinga, 34, hasn’t played in any form for Sri Lanka, since his fallout with country’s sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekara, during the India series in September last year.

“He has been told to play domestic cricket and prove his fitness, so if he does he might be considered” A SLC Source told Cricket Age.

In recent months, Malinga’s fortune has been declined considerably. Apart from the snub from the national team, he went unsold at the IPL auction at well, after Mumbai Indians decided to not retain him.

However, Now Malinga himself indicated that he is mulling over the retirement. In the scenario, if he remains fit and plays domestic cricket and performs, Nidahas Trophy will most probably be his Swansong in international cricket!

Nidahas Trophy will kick start on the 6th March, featuring Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh.
