Angelo Mathews ruled out of Bangladesh Tests

Written by Rohit Pawar

Sri Lanka Shorter formats captain Angelo Mathews has been ruled out from the two match test series against Bangladesh as well, after returning home midway through the Ongoing tri series.

Mathews suffered a hamstring tightness, while batting in Sri Lanka’s unsuccessful run-chase against the Zimbabwe yesterday. Mathews struggled throughout his 60 ball 42, as Sri Lanka suffered defeat by 12 runs, despite the heroics of Thisara Perera.

The current injury of Mathews is neither a strain nor a tear, but an irritation of the scar tissue sustained from previous injuries.

In recent times, Mathews has become a injury prone player and created lot of headache for Sri Lanka. He suffered a similar issue in December, when he had to return to the dressing room halfway through his third and 12th over of the Indian innings, as he suffered a grade one hamstring tear during the second T20I.
