Injured Mathews to Miss Next Two Matches of tri-series

Written by Vipin Darwade

Sri Lanka team’s White-Ball Captain Angelo Mathews; who suffered a right hamstring tightness, while he was batting during the Sri Lanka – Zimbabwe game, will be out for the next two games (Today’s match against Bangladesh and the next game against Zimbabwe).

Dinesh Chandimal will lead the team in the absence of Mathews.

Mathews suffered a hamstring tightness, while batting in Sri Lanka’s unsuccessful run-chase against the Zimbabwe yesterday. Mathews struggled throughout his 60 ball 42, as Sri Lanka suffered defeat by 12 runs, despite the heroics of Thisara Perera.

In recent times, Mathews has become a injury prone player and created lot of headache for Sri Lanka. He suffered a similar issue in December, when he had to return to the dressing room halfway through his third and 12th over of the Indian innings, as he suffered a grade one hamstring tear during the second T20I.
