During the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) EGM on December 6, President Thilanga Sumathipala and his committee decided to call for a SGM and make Mohan De Silva as the VP domestic Cricket and Mathivanan as the VP International affairs, Cricket Age learns. Mathivanan has also gone on record that he is now at a loose end and will have nothing to do if he steps down rom the position of VP.
It is learnt that the stake holders of SLC are furious at this outrage and expressed that they will not allowe it to take place.

According to sources, there was also an attempt to invite Samantha Dodanwela or Kapuwatha as the General Secretary, however both refused it, stating they have no experience for the responsibility. Thilanga is so desperate that then turned to the Airforce officer serving on EXCO, however, he has also declined.

However, the cause of the drama within the SLC intensified as It has learnt that Treasurer Shammi Silva and Secretary Mohan De Silva were also eying on the same post and Thilanga is dead against both who have ruined the administration.

It has learnt that even though Thilanga is not in favour and has no choice but to offer the post to current Asst. Secretary Ravin Wickramaratne who has joined in the race, though his past record could play spoilsport for him.

Notorious for his overseas tour without any proper reason and playboy style, Ravin has done nothing as the head of marketing and communication and even tarnished Thilanga’s Committee due to mishandling of the print and electronic media.

Moreover, he was the main culprit behind the Panadura-Kalutara Fixing Saga and deliberately manipulated and conspired against players.

According to sources, this exercise within the SLC, is due to Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara recently remark, in which he stated that he is mulling over possibilities of devolving SLC. the public is also aware that Dayasiri is paying pooja and ignoring all the misdeeds if SLC.

According to sources, the President and Prime Minister of the Country are also not in favour of Sumathipala, especially after dramatic changes in political scenario in Sri Lanka in recent times, and it is a matter of time before he will be replaced. However time is ticking of at a rapid pace and Sumathipala will be removed in the new year.
