Spine Injury kept Nipun Ransika Out of the U19 World Cup Squad

A spine injury kept Sri Lanka young fast bowling sensation Nipun Ransika out of the squad for the U19 World Cup to be held in New Zealand in January 2018, Cricket Age learns.

As soon as the Squad leaked, though Sri Lanka selectors haven’t announced it officially yet, Everyone was amazed by the absence of the fast bowler’s name in the squad.

When Cricket Age inquired, it has learnt that Ransika suffered the injury during the indoor practice, before the U19 Asia Cup. However, SLC officials told another story. According to official statement Ransika went to his home town Ambalangoda, where he injured himself while bowling on concrete wickets.

Ransika, a product of P. De S. Kularatne College, has been regarded as next big thing in Sri Lanka.

A bowler, who can bowl over 140 KPH constantly, he was the leading wicket taker in the australia tour, and has been awarded best schoolboy cricketer award at Sunday Times annually awards.

The U19 World Cup will be played from January 13 to February 3 in New Zealand.
