On a gloomy Thursday at Iconic Eden Garden Kolkata, Sri Lanka Captain Dinesh Chandimal won the toss and shattered few patterns by his brave Choice of fielding first after winning the toss here in the first test against India.
Known to be a spinner’s paradise, Eden Garden pitch is world famous for producing outright results in test cricket. Traditionally, Captain always chooses to bat first after winning the toss here, assuming that pitch crumbles as the match progresses.
However, Chandimal took a brave decision to bowl first, in order to get the best use of gloomy Conditions. By doing so, he became the first Captain in last 30 years to opted to bowl at Eden Garden.
Moreover, in last 10 years, teams have opted to bowl just 3 times in 55 tests in India.
Sri Lanka is yet to win a test in India, and Dinesh Chandimal confirmed with his brave captaincy that he is determined to do something special this time around!
