West Indies A wins by 45 runs in 3rd ODI to draw Series against Sri Lanka A

Right-arm fast bowler S Cotterell helped West Indies A to win the third Unofficial ODI to draw the three match series 1-1, at Kingston Jamaica on yesterday. The second match of the series has been washed out due to persistent rain.

After winning the toss West Indies A decided to bat first, but only managed 152 runs, as left-arm fast bowler Vimukhti Perera derailed batting order with four wickets in his 9.1 overs by conceding only 25 runs. He was ably supported by Madusanka and Lahiru Kumara, as both took two wickets each. Brooks was the top scorer for West Indies A with 37 runs.

Chasing the target, West Indies A couldn’t get convincing start, as they kept loosing wickets at regular intervals. Only opener Nipun Karunanayake shown application to stay at the crease, but he was stranded Alone as no other batsman could manage a substantial score. At the end, Sri Lanka A bundled out for 107, as West Indies won the match by 45 runs and leveled the series 1-1. Cotterell took four wickets in his 8.3 overs and was named man of the match. Nipun Karunanayake was the last batsman to dismissed, after his gritty 47.
