Astle, Phillips among Six added to New Zealand Squad

As New Zealand A tour of India concluded, now the board has announced their full squad of the National team for the limited overs series against India starting October 22. Three new players will be making a debut in the ODIs – Todd Astle and Glenn Phillips and Tom Bruce in T20Is. New Zealand initially announced a 9-member squad excluding Jimmy Neesham and Neil Broom.

There are only two changes in the T20I side as veteran Ross Taylor and George Worker will make way for Ish Sodhi and Tom Bruce who are already in India as a part of the New Zealand A team that is currently clashing with the India A in the unofficial ODI series having lost the two-match unofficial Test series 2-0.

NZC in a statement announcing the squad said, “Ish Sodhi and Tom Bruce will travel with the squad for the ODIs, having been named in the Twenty20 squad. Ross Taylor and Worker will return to New Zealand following the conclusion of the ODIs.”
