Sri Lanka Negative Approach on day three disappoints Mahela Jayawardene

Written by Toshi Pawar

Even after taking a first innings lead of 220 runs, Sri Lanka somehow missed a golden opportunity to strengthen their position in the second test, as they slipped to 34/5 in their second innings.

Though, Sri Lanka are still on top with a overall lead of 254 and five wickets in hand, but Legendary Mahala Jayawardene didn’t seem too happy with batsmen’s approach in the second innings.

“Well played @IamDimuth and unlucky not to get a double hundred. Still think the decision to bat again was correct but approach was negative” wrote Mahela on his twitter handle.

Though, another 75-100 runs by remaining batters, can still push Sri Lanka towards a winning position. Fortunately for Sri Lanka, amongst remaining batsmen Niroshan Dickwela, Dilruwan Perera and Rangana Herath have performed well with bat in the series so far.
