Sri Lanka former captain Mahela Jayawardene hits out at SLC President Thilanga Sumathipala, and said that he was not associated with IPL team Mumbai Indians as a trainee. He was the Head Coach of the high profile team and won the IPL 2017 in the first year itself.

“I won the trophy for Mumbai Indians in my first assignment as a Coach. Even Sachin Tendulkar, the mentor of Mumbai Indians, Acknowledge this” he said in a interview to leading Sinhala News Paper Divaina.

“I have twenty years of experience in international cricket. I have made a domestic cricket reshuffle proposal for Sri Lanka. But it’s not on my hands to implement it” he added further.

Earlier in the year, there were rumors that Mahela was interested to be the head coach of Sri Lanka, although he never applied for the post.

Even then, Thilanga Sumathipala dissmised him, by saying that he is too inexperience to be a national Coach. SLC finally appointed fielding Coach Nic Pothas as team’s Interim Coach, after the sudden departure of Graham Ford.
