Breaking! Another wicket falls at SLC, this time Aruna De Silva

Written by Rohit Pawar

Considering the recent events that have taken place at Sri Lanka Cricket, another wicket has fallen with the latest been Aruna De Silva, the Tour Operations Manager.

Cricket Age can confirm, he has indicated that he will not come back, since he has been asked to sign all bills relating to the Zimbabwe and Indian Tour. He does not seem to like the way the bills have been presented by the Treasurer without proper evaluations and required quotations for which he and Ashley De Silva, the CEO of SLC will be held responsible once the Internal Audit takes place.

Cricket Age has learnt that recently Shammi Silva and Aruna de Silva had a verbal exchange of words over the pending bills, and since he did not agree with Shammi’ way that he wants to keep away from SLC. Since he is scared of audit queries, he decided to parted ways.

He has also got cold feet, since the Executive Committee is to meet tomorrow to decide on the Domestic Match fixing Scandal report, where he too has played a major role in both Clubs fixing the match.

It is noteworthy, that Aruna De Silva has come into SLC as a Member elected to the Executive Committee and later made way for Priyantha Zoysa by appointed as tour operation Manager, who had been made an Executive Committee Member having shown his loyalty to Thilanga Sumathipala, President SLC for playing a major role in organizing the Southern Provincial vote base.

Aruna de Silva has cashed in very well with his new appointments and now that the cash flow is running dry at SLC he seems to be vanishing into thin air. Under his supervision the Under 19 Asia Cup, The Women’s ICC qualifier, Bangladesh National Tour, Zimbabwe National Tour and the Indian National Tour was conducted. Aruna also played a major role in handling the match ticket for all the tours with the Indian Company, “Book my Show”. He was one of the key players in Thilanga’s political campaign and SLC’s election campaign.

Though, finally Aruna has indicated that he better stay away and do his freight forwarding business since the net is falling down on all of Thilanga’s and Shammi’s deeds.

He performed his last rites during the 5th ODI at R. Premadasa, when he was on the podium to present the awards as an employee of SLC.

Though, even when he was at SLC, he was also opersting his own company, as the Chairman/Managing Director at A & D K Logistics Pvt Ltd. It was a serious case of conflict of interest, that shows how Sumathipala has been running SLC like his private company.
