The test series, that ended within eleven days!

Written by Rohit Pawar

A full home series against India, comprising all three formats of the game, is nothing sort of a festival season for Sri Lanka! Two best neighbors, two best nations in producing some of the greatest cricketers ever. So, Sri Lanka cherished the occasions, every time team India toured the island in past. Many times India won, sometimes Sri Lanka also won! But the spirit of the game, and the enthusiasm was always there, especially as the Sri Lankan players always wanted to and tried to produce their best against their neighbor, the most dominant cricket country in the world.

But, The ongoing test series, just ended today as team India rattled Sri Lanka by 3-0, was an exception!

Sri Lanka lost  and India won, but it was expected.

But, what was not expected, is that Sri Lanka lost without a fight, and India won it without a hurdle!

To be precise, India won this test match series just within eleven days! Even on those eleven days, India batted around eight days, with two 600 plus and one 400 plus scores in just four innings, they played.

India were so dominating, that they inforced the follow-on twice, and became the first Indian team to to do so against Sri Lanka, under the captaincy of Virat Kohli.

Sri Lanka were so pathetic, that they could not even manage to drag the any of the three tests to the fifth day, even on their home soil!

Cricket once again being defeated by the politics, in Sri Lanka, with this loss. So, what are the gains?Well, as the president of Sri Lanka cricket board, Thilanga Sumathipala is in win-win situation anyhow. Like-

1. Sri Lanka has set the trend by finishing matches within 4 days, that makes it easy for ICC to decide on 4 day Test.

2. Also India does SL administration a favor by finishing matches early, thus saving finances on meals for the last day in all 3 test matches.

These are the only positives, Sri Lanka can take from the series, that they lost just within eleven days!
